Characterization of biomass arching tendencies and silo flow properties can be performed at the Biomass Technology Centre. Flow properties are evaluated by discharging bulk materials from a 0.5 m3 test silo with adjustable hopper angle and outlet opening size. This method can be used to compare flow properties of bulk materials and for measuring the impact of different treatments on mechanical flow properties.
