The aim of Umeå Kommunföretag (UKF) is to be the parent company of companies in which Umeå municipality owns at least 25%. The municipality-owned companies conduct business that delivers services for local residents; housing, water supply, sewerage, sanitation, energy, port facilities, parking and culture. UKF is responsible for the public transportation in Umeå, which it does through the trademark ULTRA, to provide Umeå with competitive and environmentally efficient transportation options. The company will also promote activities for the development of young entrepreneurs in Umeå, which it does through its business incubator BIC Factory. UKF assists the municipality owned companies with management services, training and financing issues. UKF will focus on innovative and economically attractive solutions that contribute to both regional growth and sustainable development.
