Vakin is owned by Umeå and Vindeln municipality, where the company is responsible for water and sewage treatment, waste collection and recycling. We operate 8 recycling centrals (350 000 visitors, 2015), 18 waterworks, 25 wastewater treatment plants and 129 pumping stations. Being part of city planning, developing environmental issues and designing investigations and projects are parts of our daily work, as well as being a regional competence resource in waste and water issues. We strive to be energy neutral through heat exchange and biogas production. We are active in customer management, damage investigations, legal matters and communication concerning waste and water issues.
